Poker Strategy
Position is your most valuable asset in poker. Playing from a late position (near the Dealer Button) gives you an informational edge — you see what other players do before it's your turn. At Poker88, players who consistently play more hands from a strong position tend to be the profitable ones.
One of the most common mistakes new players make is playing too many hands. Tighten your starting hand selection — play premium hands (AA, KK, QQ, AK) and strong speculative hands from the right position. This alone can dramatically improve your results.
Pot odds tell you whether it's worth calling a bet based on the potential payout versus the cost of the call. If you have a flush draw with 9 outs, your chance of completing the hand on the turn is roughly 19%. If the pot odds offer better than that, calling is the mathematically correct decision.
